Building A World: Graphic Novels And The Imagination
28 November 2015 | 2:00 am – 3:00 pm BST| RS1000
CHENNAI, INDIA | Building A World is a presentation about how creating a graphic novel is also creating a self-contained world.
Graphic novelist, Jai Undurti, discusses how different mediums and disciplines — filmmaking, painting, photography, architecture — are brought to bear in constructing an imaginary terrain.
Explore whether this imagined world can form a zone where different story-telling forms meet, where narratives and counter-narratives clash, where dreams, memory and craft mingle leading to a new cartography of the imagination.
Jai Undurti is Creative Director of Syenagiri, has a background in journalism, and writes for leading publications on travel and popular culture.
Undurti started Every City is a Story – a unique city-centric graphic storytelling initiative.
His current projects include The Robots of Dharma, set in a dystopian India. He is now working on The Game, with co-writer V. Starovoit and artist Kishore Mohan.
